Violin-making workshop at the Havana Music Academy

In February, Daniel Kogge went to Cuba for 10 days to host a violin-making workshop at the Havana Music Academy. While there, he helped the local violin maker and his students, and also provided the means to restore playability to the Orquesta del Lyceum de La Habana pupils’ instruments.

“I spent a wonderful week in the violin-making workshop in Havana, where I was welcomed by a lovely team of young, motivated people. While we worked together, we exchanged knowledge and took care of the instruments of the Orquesta del Lyceum de La Habana as well as those of the students at the Colegio Universitario San Gironimo. Thanks to your kind support, we were able to equip some of the instruments with high-quality bridges, which made the young musicians very happy.“

On behalf of the Taller de Lutheria in Havana I would like to express our sincere and profound gratitude for your generous donation of cello, viola and violin bridges that Daniel Kogge recently brought to the workshop. Your ongoing support for over 15 years has been key to maintaining the instruments of the numerous music schools and the many professional musicians! Despiau has been and continues to be an essential part of the rich musical culture!
